Goldman eyes Morgan Stanley crown

GOLDMAN SACHS stepped up efforts to unseat MORGAN STANLEY as the top bank in equities trading in the second quarter and came closer than analysts expected. Morgan Stanley has held the top spot for 17 quarters. Goldman reported revenue from equities trading of US$2bn, its second best quarter in four years, aided by stronger performance in both cash and derivatives.
