Fortune favours bold on crisis M&A deals

Major corporates could still undertake transformative deals in the current difficult economic climate and pay reasonable valuations for targets, according to a study by JP Morgan of M&A that occurred during the 2008/09 financial crisis.The US bank looked at deals that took place in 2008 and 2009 and concluded that "big bets" made during that market dislocation had paid off for companies bold enough to take the opportunity to undertake such deals. Seventeen such deals of more than US$2bn were unveiled in that period.
