Tesla eased concerns about its ability to fund its ambitious growth plan by raising US$2bn of equity just two weeks after a pledge not to raise capital. An 80% stock price surge this year proved too good an opportunity for the capital-hungry electric carmaker to pass up, though it was the second time that the company's mercurial CEO Elon Musk had told investors one thing and done another in relation to equity issues.
