RBS buys capital relief on green energy portfolio

RBS sold a synthetic green "significant risk-transfer securitisation" - thought to be the UK's first - at the end of last year, freeing up risk-weighted assets associated with a ￡1.1bn portfolio of sustainable energy project finance loans. The bespoke, bilateral deal is a rare example of a securitisation with green underlying assets.
