BANK OF AMERICA MERRILL LYNCH offered One of the few bright spots in a dreary quarter for investment banking, suggesting the bank is at least gearing up for a turnaround. Across the five largest US banks revenue from investment banking in the second quarter fell 10% from a year ago. Banks had already warned last month not to expect a wave of activity to be unleashed after a weak first quarter marked by uncertainty and a US government shut down.
