Nomura's Q1 profit jumps tenfold

NOMURA recorded a more than tenfold surge in net profit for its fiscal first quarter on a strong performance in wholesale banking, in marked contrast to last year's dire performance. Japan's number one investment bank said last week its net profit for the April-June quarter was ¥55.8bn (US$514m) against ¥5.2bn a year earlier.
