Twilio lands US$870m in opportunistic raise

TWILIO, the communications platform-as-a-service company, signalled it is yet again in the market for acquisitions with an opportunistic US$868m equity raise, giving it US$1.8bn of dry powder. The financing, marketed for one day Thursday, follows the US$1.8bn all-stock purchase of e-mail messaging provider SendCrid and the launch earlier this year of an all-in-one customer service solution, Flex.
