Watford opts for direct Nasdaq listing

Though unlikely to command the headlines of Spotify and Slack, the parent company of Bermuda-based reinsurer Watford Re has also opted to avoid a traditional IPO and is instead planning a direct listing of its shares. WATFORD HOLDINGS, a property and casualty reinsurer backed by publicly-traded insurer Arch Capital and hedge fund HPS Investment Partners, last week began a non-deal roadshow to educate investors before its shares begin trading on Nasdaq on February 15, making it the latest company to go public without placing any shares. Software company Slack is also pursuing a direct listing (see Top News story).
