Belgian lawmakers are on the cusp of passing a law to allow the country's real estate investment trusts to raise money through accelerated bookbuilds. Unlike in most other European countries, Belgian REITs are restricted to marketed transactions for raising cash, which are more time-consuming and expensive than ABBs. A parliamentary committee has already approved the law amendment to permit companies to place up to 10% of their shares every 12 months. The change is being welcomed by the sector.
