KoSa, purchaser of Hoechst polyester empire, has wasted no time in strengthening its presence in nonwovens, especially the sophisticated specialty fibers that offer the promise of high returns. The company is investing—it won't say how much - into doubling capacity to produce bicom-ponent fibers at its specialty fibers plant in Salisbury, North Carolina. A new production line was being ramped up in late 1999, with completion of the expansion expected in the second quarter of this year. KoSa would not divulge capacity figures.
