At one time or another, all of us have seen an awning, tent or boat cover falling apart at the seams long before the fabric has deteriorated. The thread itself crumbles, loses all its strength and the expensive sewn product is useless due to the lowest volume component in it - the thread. Having the article removed and re-sewn is not an inexpensive process, and overall it's time consuming and aggravating for the owner. Often times the whole product needs to be replaced due to the fact that it was sewn with only a few dollars of thread not designed for outdoor use.
