Melt-To-Resin: A New Method to Produce PET Resin Economically Without SSP

Processes to produce resin grade PET conventionally consist of a CP-polyconden-sation, which generates precursor pellets with an i.V of 0.55 to 0.62 and AA-contents of 40 - 100 ppm. To obtain resins with an i.V. of 0.76 to 0.85 and low AA-content of less than 1 ppm, which is suitable for production of food packaging materials such as preforms and cast films, a solid state process (SSP), must follow.
