Advances in Producing Specialty Fibers

Multi-component fibers are a family of high-value synthetic fibers that can fill niche markets as part of a highly profitable business plan for fiber manufactures. Multi-component and nanofibers (hereinafter; specialty fibers) have become more common and diverse over the last decade, as machinery and polymer technologies have advanced. Specialty fibers that were once considered interesting laboratory experiments are now being commercially produced with modern polymer distribution technology that allows economical production of specialty fibers. A key element for successful deployment of advanced technology specialty fibers is to use the most advanced spin pack technology.
