Washington, D.C.—High-level climate change meetings in Bonn, Germany, concluded with a "clear consensus" that industrial nations ultimately will agree to another round of mandatory reductions in greenhouse gas emissions when the Kyoto Protocol's first compliance period ends in 2012, the chairman of an ad hoc working group announced May 26.rn"There is a strong sense of urgency and there's clear consensus that there should be no gap after 2012, when the first commitment period ends," according to Michael Zammit Cutajar, who chairs a panel of international leaders known as the Ad Hoc Working Group. The working group met in Bonn May 17-25 during a broader set of meetings on international climate change efforts.
