摘要

Denmark, Norway, Canada, Russia, and the United States ended a high-level Arctic Ocean conference May 29 by confirming their acceptance of U.N. arbitration in territorial disputes and committing to abide by existing treaties, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The conference, which took place in Ilulissat, Greenland, also included a commitment to strengthen maritime safety measures and to work to minimize the risk of oil spills and other pollution from ships.
