The European Commission and the aeronautics industry Feb. 5 formally launched a €1.6 billion ($2.32 billion) research project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from aviation. The project, known as Clean Sky, was set out in a Commission proposal published June 2007, and formally approved Dec. 20 (30 INER 495, 6/27/07).
