European Chemicals Agency to Nominate IS Substances for Restriction Under REACH

The European Chemicals Agency Dec. 7 said it would list 15 chemicals as "substances of very high concern," meaning they eventually could be banned or restricted under the European Union's REACH legislation.The substances would be added "formally" in January to a "substances of very high concern candidate list," triggering a round of consultations, the agency added.rnDepending on the outcome of those consultations, ECHA could propose to the European Commission that the substances be added to Annex XIV of REACH, which stands for the registration, evaluation, and authorization of chemicals.
