Costa Rican diplomat and veteran climate change negotiator Christiana Figueres will take over as the next head of the U.N. climate change secretariat starting July 1.rnFigueres told BNA May 24 that she will arrive in Bonn, home of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change secretariat, for the Carbon Expo May 28. She said she will play an "apprentice role" at the May 29-June 11 meetings in Bonn of the UNFCCC subsidiary bodies and of the Ad-hoc Working Groups, with current executive secretary Yvo de Boer still in charge.
