Ontario to Propose Requirement for Low-Flush Toilets

The government of Canada's Ontario province will propose regulations to require that all toilets sold in the province consume no more than six liters (1.6 gallons) of water per flush, Environment Minister John Gerretsen said April 22. The regulations, to be issued later in 2010 under the Green Energy Act, would promote water and energy conservation, as well as reduce household water costs, Gerretsen said in a written statement.
