China Climate Exchanges Wait for Domestic, Global Policy Direction Before Trading Starts

Fledgling climate exchanges in China are making slow progress toward the actual trading of pollutant emissions because of stalled formulation of domestic policies and regulations and uncertainty over international climate change agreements, representatives of two exchanges told BNA.rnSo far, exchanges in China have been involved only in small-scale pilot trading of air, water, and greenhouse gas emissions. Comprehensive national regulations allowing for intercity or regional trading are being developed, the representatives said.
