EU Commission Takes Slovenia, Sweden To Court, Issues Other Warnings in 14 Cases

The European Commission March 18 said it would take Slovenia and Sweden to the European Court of Justice for breaches of EU air quality laws.rnIt sent final warnings of pending court action for a range of environmental infringements in another 14 cases involving 10 countries.rnIn the air quality cases, the Commission said that Slovenia and Sweden had not complied by the beginning of 2010 with EU limits on airborne particles 10 microns in diameter or less (known as PM-10) and had not submitted requests for more time to meet the limits, which they were permitted to do by the 2008 Air Quality Directive (2008/50/EC).
