Colorado E-Waste Firm, Officers Indicted For Overseas Shipment of Cathode Ray Tubes

An electronics recycling firm in Engle-wood and two of its officers have been indicted in connection with the unlawful exportation of cathode ray tubes to China and other countries (United States v. Environmental Waste Recycling Co., D. Colo., No. l.ll-CR-00376-WJM, 9/15/11). A federal grand jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado on Sept. 15 charged Executive Recycling Inc.; Brandon Richter, of Highlands Ranch; and Tor Olson, of Parker, with environmental crimes in connection with the failure to file a notification to export hazardous waste, according to John Walsh, U.S. attorney for the district. The company and the officers also were charged with wire fraud, mail fraud, exportation contrary to law, and destruction, alteration, or falsification of records, Walsh said. Richter was owner and chief executive officer of the company, an Environmental Protection Agency-certified Large Universal Waste Handler, and Olson was its former vice president of operations.
