President's Office Schedules Upcoming Rules On Offshore Operations, Transparency, Waste

The Russian government plans to complete about 20 environmental rulemakings over the next few months, according to a schedule published by the Office of the President this summer. The rules will cover offshore oil and gas operations safety, transparency of environmental information on projects, waste management, and remediation of long-term environmental damage, among other things. By November, the government plans to have introduced into Russian law the term "accumulated environmental damage," along with plans to clean up long- term pollution with the help of a new classification system to inventory environmental damage.
