摘要

Refiners of copper, zinc, and other metals in Japan will have a lower threshold for cadmium in their wastewater under a Ministry of the Environment policy to reduce the cadmium tolerance level in bodies of water. Satoshi Yamamoto, deputy general manager of the Water Environment Division of the ministry's Water and Air Quality Bureau, told BNA July 28 the ministry had adopted recommendations made by its policy commission on water quality to revise the cadmium tolerance level in rivers, lakes, ponds, seas, and other bodies of water to an annual average of 0.003 milligram per liter, down from the current level of 0.01 mg/1.
