Report Tracks Declines in EU Production, Imports of Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases

Production and imports of fluorinated greenhouse gases in the European Union declined in 2011 compared to 2010, but exports increased slightly, according to figures published by the European Environment Agency (EEA) Sept. 11. The changes in production and import volumes meant that EU sales of the gases, which have a global warming potential as much as 12,000 times that of carbon dioxide, fell from 97,995 metric tons to 86,253 metric tons, EEA said in a summary of aggregate data reported by companies.
