Financial Institutions Sign Declaration On Valuing Natural Assets, Ecosystems

Heads of 37 banks, insurers, and other financial institutions have committed to valuing natural assets and the good and services derived from ecosystems and called on governments and businesses to do the same. The 37 financial institutions launched the Natural Capital Declaration at an official side event of the United Nations' Rio+20 summit, which will conclude June 22. The declaration aims to ensure that governments, businesses, and the financial sector assess the impact they have on the natural environment and disclose it.
