REACH Study Finds Overlap With Other Laws, Regulatory Gaps; Revisions Recommended

The European Union's REACH chemical law should be revised to deal with overlaps with other EU legislation and to fill some regulatory gaps, according to a major study published by the European Commission.In particular, overlaps between REACH and EU laws dealing with pesticides, biocides, ozone-depleting substances, medical devices, cosmetics, and the classification and labeling of chemicals have caused instances of double regulation, the study found.
