China Outlines Plans to Develop Clean Cars, Renewable Energy Sources, Green Buildings

A series of development plans for clean vehicles, energy, and efficient buildings outline goals for China's Ministry of Science and Technology through 2015. The ministry has released final versions of plans to develop technology for alternative energy vehicles, wind and solar power, and clean coal. A public comment period on a draft plan on developing technology for green buildings covering the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015) ended May 2. The plans all fall into the seven key strategic industries the country is aiming to develop in the current planning period (33 INER 767, 8/4/10).
