European Commission to Identify Products In Line for Stricter Energy Efficiency Rules

The European Commission is preparing a working plan that will designate product groups to which stricter ecodesign and energy efficiency standards will be applied in the next three years, participants in a U.S. Commerce Department we-binar were told Jan. 20. The working plan will prioritize a number of products that directly use energy and products that affect energy consumption, webinar speakers said. It was triggered by the European Union's 2009 Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC).
