Rising Mexican Demand Will Ease Shale Gas Glut, Analyst Tells Calgary Petroleum Club

A growing Mexican market for U.S. exported natural gas will help reduce a glut of shale gas that has lowered North American gas prices, a First Energy analyst told energy executives in Calgary, Alberta. Gas exports from the U.S. to Mexico are projected to rise, thanks to new pipelines, from less than one billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) in 2010 to two bcf/d this year and double again to nearly four bcf/d by 2018, analyst Martin King said Oct. 8 at a Petroleum Club presentation. "We are still looking for much better prices for natural gas in 2014," King said. "We remain unapologeti-cally price bullish for 2014."
