Trading Picks Up on Shenzhen Pilot Carbon Exchange as Price Rises to $14.70 Per Ton

A total of 120 trades representing 67,672 metric tons of carbon dioxide worth 3,562,706 yuan ($582,000) have been conducted on the China Shenzhen Emissions Exchange (CERX) since it opened in mid-June, CERX representatives told participating businesses at a Sept. 14 meeting attended by Bloomberg BNA. The price per ton of carbon dioxide rose from a range of 28 to 32 yuan ($4.55 to $5.20) on the first trading day to about 90 yuan ($14.70) by mid-September.
