European Parliament to Reconsider Delaying Allowance Auction to Boost Carbon Market

The European Parliament is likely to revisit in July a proposal to boost the price of emission allowances on the EU carbon market, which it narrowly rejected in April. Matthias Groote, a German center-left lawmaker who is chairman of the European Parliament's Environment Committee, said in a series of Twitter messages May 7 that the committee will look again at the proposal and will vote on it June 19, before passing the dossier to the full European Parliament for a vote during its July 1-4 session.
