EU Advances Plan to Accelerate Permitting For Cross-Border Grid, Pipeline Infrastructure

A new regulatory framework for cross-border energy infrastructure networks passed a key hurdle March 21 when the European Union's Council of Ministers approved legislation to allow an expedited permit process for certain facilities, including electricity grids and pipelines. The council represents EU member states. The European Parliament approved the measure March 12. The regulation will take effect as soon as it is published in the EU Official Journal.
