EU Launches Antidumping Investigation Into Imports of Solar Glass From China

Following up from the launch of antidumping and anti-subsidy trade investigations into Chinese solar panel imports in 2012, the European Commission launched a separate trade defense inquiry Feb. 28 into Chinese solar glass imports. After receiving a complaint from European solar glass makers, a Commission preliminary inquiry determined there was substance to claims that Chinese solar glass makers were selling their product in Europe at below market prices and were causing damage to the European manufacturers. The preliminary analysis revealed "strong evidence backing up the claims of the Association of EU ProSun Glass," a Commission official told journalists on the condition of anonymity. "There was evidence of possible price dumping as well injury suffered and possible causal link between the dumped imports and the injury suffered by the industry.
