U.S. airlines are opposed to including foreign airlines in the European Union's Emissions Trading System (ETS), but they are not outright opposed to climate change policy, a representative of an airlines industry association said Dec. 11.Nancy Young, vice president of environmental affairs for Airlines for America (A4A), said U.S. airlines favor a global, sector-based approach to reducing airline emissions that involves using alternative fuels and modernizing airplanes. "We're not afraid of climate policy," she said.
