Dramatic Growth Brings Green Bonds Market From Niche to Mainstream, Report Says

The green bonds market has gone from niche to mainstream after dramatic growth worldwide over the past year in bond finance for low-carbon projects in transportation, energy and other sectors, according to a report released July 17 by the London-based Climate Bonds Initiative. The report said $11 billion worth of labeled green bonds were issued in 2013, more than three times the issuance of any previous year. So far in 2014, more than $18 billion worth of labeled green bonds already have been issued worldwide.
