Prior to an upcoming visit to India, Secretary of State John Kerry on July 28 highlighted a "shared prosperity agenda" focused on deepening bilateral security and energy ties and helping the rapidly developing nation cut greenhouse gas emissions. Kerry said India may be on the verge of an economic boom that could be hastened by a "new silk road," a proposal unveiled by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2011, to tie together India and other energy users and suppliers in the region.
