摘要

Canada's ambassador to the U.S. says failure to approve TransCanada Corp's Keystone XL pipeline from the Alberta oil sands to the U.S. Gulf Coast would ultimately be bad for the environment. Ambassador Gary Doer told the Pacific Northwest Economic Region summit in Whistler, British Columbia, July 22 that shipping oil by pipelines is safer and more environmentally friendly than using rail, and that failure to approve Keystone XL would ultimately lead to more oil sands products moving from the Alberta oil sands by train.
