Russia is continuing to make the changes to its competition and environmental laws that the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development requires as a condition of membership, even though Russia's accession to the OECD has been stalled Minister of Economic Development Alexey Ulyukaev told Russian President Vladimir Putin in a July 7 meeting that he had recently met with OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria and agreed to continue to work with OECD experts, according to a Kremlin transcript. The OECD officially froze Russia's accession process in reaction to the ongoing tensions involving Russia's actions in Ukraine. Improvements in: corporate governance and public administration; antimonopoly law and the promotion of competition; environmental laws and introduction of best available technology requirements; and in increasing productivity were the areas for continuing change named by the minister.
