Australian Government Reintroduces Bills To Abolish Carbon Pricing, Climate Agencies

The Australian government has reintroduced 11 bills in Parliament to abolish the carbon price scheme and axe two climate change agencies. The bills would repeal the carbon price scheme as well as arrangements that impose a charge equivalent to the carbon price on fossil fuel used by mining companies and airlines. The package of bills, introduced June 23, would also abolish Australia's green bank, known as the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, which provides financing for renewables and energy efficiency technologies.
