Israeli Antitrust Authority Requires Gas Field Divestment by Leviathan Partners

U.S.-based Noble Energy and Israel's Delek Group, the two main partners in Israel's Leviathan, Ta-mar and other gas fields, have agreed to divestment of 70 billion cubic meters in gas holdings to avoid being declared a cartel by Israel's Antitrust Authority. After more than two years of negotiations, the draft settlement released by the authority on March 27 includes a much smaller spin-off than originally envisioned. It also paves the way for Woodside Petroleum's purchase of a 25 percent stake in the huge Leviathan offshore field for $2.71 billion.
