Hubei province became the sixth of seven carbon trading pilots to start initial trading of carbon dioxide emissions in China on April 2, with 510,000 tons of carbon permits valued at a total of 10.71 million yuan ($1.7 million) traded at ar average price of 21 yuan ($3.30) per ton. The Hubei emissions exchange (HBEA) has allotted 324 million tons of carbon quotas for 2014, and the first batch of 2 million tons of quotas was auctioned on March 31 at an average price of 21 yuan per ton, the HBEA said in the statement.
