Israel's Justice Ministry Releases Draft Of Bill to Address Offshore Energy Extraction

Israel's Justice Ministry has released proposed legislation addressing a wide range of environmental, economic, legal sovereignty and security issues related to the development of the offshore energy extraction industry. The Maritime Zones Bill, released Dec. 17, also signals Israel's intention to comply with United Nations conventions on maritime law, by defining an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of 200 nautical miles and a larger zone in which Israel would exercise only partial sovereignty.
