Ontario Energy Regulator Seeks Comments On TransCanada's Energy East Proposal

Ontario's energy regulator is seeking comments on TransCanada Ltd.'s proposed C$12 billion ($11.4 billion) Energy East Pipeline project that would convert an existing natural gas pipeline to transport crude oil from Alberta's oil sands region to New Brunswick for refining and/or export. The Ontario Energy Board said Dec. 19 that provincial Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli had asked it to address the proposed project's impacts on the environment and pipeline safety, as well as on natural gas consumers, communities and the province's economy.
