EU, U.K. Advisers Urge More Attention To Perceptions, Communications About Risk

Governments need to pay more attention to perceptions of environmental and other risks and improve their communications about risks if they want funding and other resources to be focused on the most important ones, according to the chief science advisers to the European Union and the U.K. Anne Glover, chief science adviser to the European Commission, and Mark Walport, chief science adviser to the U.K., spoke Dec. 9 during the opening session of the Society of Risk Analysis' meeting, which ran through Dec. 11 in Baltimore.
