Climate finance provided to developing countries by the European Union and its member states is poorly coordinated, potentially meaning subopti-mal deployment of resources for mitigation and adaptation projects, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) said in a report published Dec. 17. Gijs De Vries, a member of ECA, said although the EU and its countries had promised to provide about 7 billion euros ($9.6 billion) in "fast-start" climate financing from 2010-2012, the European Commission, the bloc's executive arm, "cannot confirm that the member states have delivered the aid that they have promised."
