The Paris climate summit got under way Nov. 30 with high-level calls for strong climate action and a roadmap for final negotiations on the draft of what delegates hope will become the Paris agreement. The main event on the opening day of the Nov. 30-Dec. 11 United Nations summit centered around opening remarks from more than 150 heads of state who traveled to Paris, most of whom called for strong action to curb greenhouse gas emissions and tackle issues arising from climate change.
