Australia to Buy $398 Million in Carbon Credits in Emissions Reduction Fund Auction

Australia's Clean Energy Regulator has contracted to buy 45.45 million carbon credits worth A$557 million ($398 million), according to a Nov. 12 announcement. The new contracts, signed with 77 contractors for 131 projects, are the results of the second Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) auction, held Nov. 4-5. Contractors will deliver the Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) to the regulator during periods ranging from one year to 10 years and they will be paid on delivery.
