The National Capital Territory of Delhi has issued an advisory to its Public Works Department and other state agencies instructing that products made out of recycled construction and demolition waste should be the first choice in all construction works. All Delhi government agencies are required to incorporate a clause in their tenders mandating use of at least 2 percent recycled construction waste in all future contracts for building projects and 10 percent recycled products for road works, according to the Aug. 18 advisory. In addition, "The concerned Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Delhi would mandate 5 percent of such products for non-structural applications, while examining and approving building plans," the advisory said.
