Ontario's New Cap-And-Trade Regime Projected to Raise $1.6 Billion Annually

A carbon cap-and-trade system in Canada's most populous province is projected to raise as much as C$2 billion ($1.6 billion) annually, early government and third-party estimates show. It is not yet clear which industries will be left paying the most, and details of Ontario's plan, including a time frame for its deployment, are still being worked out. The province announced last week that it would join Quebec's cap-and-trade system (38 INER, see related story, 4/22/15).
